Germany are World Champions for the third time in a row!

WINTERTHUR. The Germans are World Champions for the 12th time at the 15th IFA Men’s World Championship! In front of a crowd of 5819, Germany and Austria came together for the first time since 2011 where Germany won 4:2. Today Germany was just too dominant and Austria wasn’t allowed into the game. The Germans shut down the Austrian attackers and hammered  the ball into the defence showing that they really are the best team in the world.



Germany are World Champions for the third time in a row

Tonight’s win is Germany’s third World Champsionship title in a row. The core German team are the same group that played at the last world Championship. Now that they have found this winning combination, will they be able to keep it for the 2023 Fistball Men’s World Championship in Mannheim Germany. Fabian Sagstetter Captain of the German team is happy about the third World Championship title in a row: „we worked very hard for this title all year long. Now we are very happy that we could achieve this goal, it was great fun playing here. The atmosphere in the stadium was crazy and due to this we pushed ourselves over the limits. We are already looking forward to the home World Champsionship in 2023“

The first and second sets both went to Germany 11:4, and Germany was able to place the ball and score points as they wanted. The third set ended up 11:9 but was the only set where Austria looked as though they might be able to steal a win. Austria kept the Germans at set point for two balls making it a score line of 10:9. Unfortunately for Austria, Germany kept their heads and won the set on the next ball. The last set started with two straight points to Austria but Germany soon fought back and Austria was unable to respond. The Austrian spiker Karl Müllehner said after the match: „we definitely won the silver medal yesterday when we beat Brazil. We just have to admit that Germany was better than us today. We would have had to give 120% to compete with them for the victory and we couldn’t do that“.
